Choose Your Own Adventure - Remote Classroom Experiments
Laboratory experiments and hands-on-demonstrations are often the cornerstone for effective student learning in the classroom. However, the 2020 global pandemic meant a loss of this traditional face-to-face teaching methodology. Although there have been moves towards utilising a blended method of these classes, it has rarely ever been done in a solely onlineenvironment. This is the catalyst of this Honours Project. Aimed at constructing an effective e-Learning platform that will allow educators to create their regular experiments in an online/hybrid environment - while also providing students the ability to control the 'flow' of the experiment, similar to a 'choose-your-own-adventure' book.
The resulting project will allow educators to record their experiments, "slice' the recording into discrete fragments, and then 'stitch' these fragments back together. This stitching will allow a student to explore the available pathways. It is aimed that by providing students the ability to interact with the videos, it will create a more engaging and gamified learning experience in an online environment.
